Chia Flour Bread

Chia Flour Bread

  • 3 ½ cups (400 g) wheat flour
  • 1 cup (100 g) SOW Chia Flour
  • 3 ½ teaspoons (10g) dry yeast
  • ½ tablespoon sugar
  • 1 ½ tablespoons salt
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup (100 ml) sunflower oil
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Optional: 1/4 cup SOW Black Chia Seeds

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F and grease a loaf pan with butter or oil.
  2. Sift wheat flour and chia flour into a large bowl. Add the dry yeast, sugar, salt and mix all dry ingredients.
  3. Make a space in the center of the dry mixture, add the sunflower oil and mix. Continue kneading while adding, little by little, ½ cup of warm water until all ingredients are incorporated and a homogeneous dough is formed, about 5 minutes.
  4. Once the dough is ready, brush it with a little oil (so no crust is produced), cover with a cloth and let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes.
  5. Knead dough again and then place in loaf pan.
  6. Brush dough with the beaten egg. Optional: sprinkle black chia seeds on top.
  7. Let the dough rest for another 10 to 15 minutes then bake for 45 to 50 minutes.
